Jakarta (The Indonesian News) – President Prabowo Subianto tested the Nusantara Explorer train following a series of events, including the inauguration of the Tawang Station revitalization in Semarang and the mass signing ceremony for subsidized housing credit and People’s Business Credit in Batang Regency, Central Java, on Thursday (July 30). The President departed from Batang Station to Manggarai Station in Jakarta with a limited entourage.
The Nusantara Explorer train was initiated by Prabowo to support national tourism and is currently still in the trial phase. The train, developed by PT Kereta Api Indonesia, offers luxury tourist train facilities with a luxury sleeper train concept across several classes. Inside the train, there is also a grand restaurant and lounge for relaxing and dining.
Throughout the journey, Prabowo directly inspected the facilities and carriage interiors of the Nusantara Explorer. State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the development of this train was a direct directive from Prabowo to strengthen the national tourism ecosystem through rail transportation.
He said Prabowo not only paid attention to the quality of the carriages prepared by PT KAI but also considered the connectivity of the tourist train with various premier destinations in Indonesia.
“There were several notes. However, they were not merely about the quality or facilities provided by PT KAI, but the discussions also directly addressed several tourist destinations. The consequence is that we must also revitalize or revive railway lines,” Prasetyo said.
Prasetyo cited as an example that one of the routes receiving attention is the Semarang–Magelang route to support the development of the Borobudur area as a premier tourist destination. He also appreciated PT KAI’s ability to present carriages of international standard.
“In our view, having been invited to look inside the carriage cabin interiors, we greatly appreciate that PT KAI is now capable of producing world-class, international-standard railway carriages,” he said.
Upon arriving at Manggarai Station on Thursday evening, Prabowo was enthusiastically welcomed by the public. Residents gathered to greet Prabowo. Many asked to shake hands, capture the moment through selfies, and exchange greetings directly.
“Assalamualaikum, Mr. Prabowo! Photo, Sir!” residents called out to Prabowo.
“Waalaikumsalam,” Prabowo warmly replied. He took time to greet them by waving and taking selfies together.
While walking toward the station exit, Prabowo shook hands with residents one by one, accepted invitations to take photos together, and greeted those who called his name.
This warm atmosphere marked the closing of Prabowo’s working visit series in Central Java and reflected his closeness to the community.
