Jakarta (Yhe Indonesian News) – Under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership, farmer welfare continues to improve. Statistics Indonesia data recorded the Farmer Exchange Rate at 127.84 in July 2026.
This increase in the NTP reflects that farmers’ purchasing power remains stable, as the decline in costs incurred by farmers was greater than the decline in agricultural product prices.
“The Farmer Exchange Rate in July 2026 was recorded at 127.84, an increase of 0.15 percent compared to June 2026. This increase occurred because the index of prices received by farmers fell by 0.10 percent, while the index of prices paid by farmers fell more steeply, at 0.25 percent,” said Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, Ateng Hartono, during a press conference on Monday (August 3).
Ateng explained that the July 2026 NTP increase occurred because the Index of Prices Paid by farmers fell more steeply than the Index of Prices Received.
He noted that the NTP is an indicator that reflects farmers’ purchasing power. An increase in the NTP indicates that the exchange value of agricultural products against goods and services consumed by households and production needs is in better condition compared to the previous month.
The national NTP increase in July 2026 was supported by improved performance in the agricultural subsectors. The smallholder plantation crops subsector recorded the highest increase at 1.67 percent, followed by food crops at 1.32 percent.
In the food crops subsector, the NTP increase was driven by rising prices of rice and secondary crops, while in the smallholder plantation subsector, it was influenced by strengthening prices of cocoa and palm oil commodities.
Cumulatively, farmer welfare conditions throughout the year also continue to show a positive trend. From January to July 2026, the national NTP was recorded at 126.13, an increase of 2.98 percent compared to the same period last year.
A total of 26 out of 38 provinces recorded NTP increases in July 2026, with Southeast Sulawesi recording the highest increase at 8.89 percent.
The surge in the NTP in July 2026 is a positive signal that the agricultural sector is becoming stronger, more productive, and more profitable. On several occasions, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman has emphasized that this achievement is supported by various acceleration measures taken by the ministry, including expanding planted areas, land optimization, irrigation rehabilitation and normalization, provision of superior seeds, agricultural machinery and equipment assistance, and strengthening farmer mentoring across various production centers.
The Ministry of Agriculture continues to strengthen various strategic programs to increase productivity, maintain farming cost efficiency, expand harvest absorption, and strengthen the stability of agricultural commodity prices.
