Jakarta (The Indonesian News) – The life of Syahrur Rosi (58), a resident from Madura, changed after moving from the Pasar Gaplok railroad tracks to the Senen Residence.
Previously, he and other residents lived in simple conditions with tarpaulin roofs now they occupy more decent housing.
“Yes, grateful, happy about everything. Everything, from previously having tarpaulin roofs, now it’s like a real house. Alhamdulillah, happy about everything,” Syahrur said, Friday, August 28, 2026.
Syahrur is one of the residents who directly experienced the relocation process from the Pasar Gaplok railroad tracks to the Senen Residence.
He said the residents welcomed the move because they received better living quarters.
“From the beginning of the relocation process from the Pasar Gaplok railroad tracks to the Senen Residence, all the residents were happy because Mr. Prabowo gave them a place that is more decent than before by the railroad tracks. They are quite happy and grateful,” he said.
According to Syahrur, his arrival at the Senen Residence also brought him back together with President Prabowo Subianto.
This meeting marked the second time he had met Prabowo directly. Previously, he met Prabowo while still living at the Pasar Gaplok railroad tracks.
“This is the second time. The first was at the Pasar Gaplok railroad tracks, and the second at the Senen Residence,” he said.
Prabowo’s arrival at the Senen Residence this evening was also unannounced. Syahrur said there had previously been community activities, including women going around to ask about residents’ conditions at the residence.
“Mr. Prabowo’s arrival was impromptu. From the afternoon, there were women going around asking about conditions at the Senen Residence,” he said.
As Maghrib time approached, residents were then asked to gather in the field. When the residents had gathered, Syahrur saw President Prabowo’s car coming from behind.
“After we were about to gather, it turned out there was Mr. President’s car coming from behind. Perhaps Mr. President Prabowo Subianto wanted to surprise the residents of Senen Residence,” he said happily.
Syahrur himself had managed the railroad tracks area since 2010. After moving to the Senen Residence, he was also entrusted with the responsibility of helping to secure the residential environment.
“Since 2010, I managed the railroad tracks area, and even here I have been given the responsibility to help secure the Senen Residence,” he said.
Now, Syahrur works as an entrepreneur. Meanwhile, his wife and child live in Tangerang.
For the residence he now occupies, Syahrur expressed his gratitude and thanks to President Prabowo. He hopes that the kindness shown to the residents will be repaid with health and success for Prabowo.
“For Mr. President, hopefully, with the kindness of Mr. President, Mr. Prabowo, may he be healthier, more successful, have a long life, and continue to succeed. Thank you very much, Sir, for Mr. Prabowo’s kindness to the residents of Senen Residence,” he said.
At the Senen Residence, Syahrur mentioned there are approximately 69 families with a total of 275 people. Residents are also starting to work together to meet their shared needs through contributions for water, kitchen electricity, security, and environmental cleanliness.
According to Syahrur, the new life at the Senen Residence not only provides more decent housing but also brings happiness to residents who previously lived by the railroad tracks.
“Yes, grateful, happy about everything,” Syahrur concluded.
