Jakarta (The Indonesian News) – Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the state’s finances and ensuring that the state budget continues to serve as an instrument capable of driving growth while maintaining the stability of Indonesia’s economy. The minister made the remarks at a post-inauguration press conference at the Djuanda I Building of the Finance Ministry on Monday (14/09).
The minister said the President had directed him to continue serving as Finance Minister through the end of the 2024–2029 Merah Putih Cabinet’s term. In carrying out that mandate, safeguarding the state’s finances will be his foremost task.
“My task is to safeguard the state’s finances, to ensure that our state finances remain a budget that drives growth, a budget that stabilizes our economy, and one that delivers the greatest possible benefit to the Indonesian people as a whole,” the minister said.
The minister explained that the budget’s benefits for society and the economy are realized through various economic activities, including household consumption, investment, government spending, and exports. With sound management of state finances, the budget is expected to continue delivering optimal benefits to the Indonesian people.
On that occasion, the minister also called on the entire ranks of the Finance Ministry to carry on with their respective duties and to work together to uphold the institution’s credibility.
“Let us continue with our own work and make the Finance Ministry credible, trustworthy, and a source of pride for all the people of Indonesia,” the minister stressed.
