Jakarta (The Indonesian News) – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto expressed his pride and appreciation to the Indonesian athletes who successfully delivered the first gold medal for the Red and White Contingent at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
The good news was received by President Prabowo via telephone from the athletes after they successfully won the gold medal. Prabowo also conveyed his appreciation and gratitude for the struggle and hard work of the athletes who have brought honor to Indonesia.
“Tonight I received a phone call and got good news from the Indonesian athletes. They successfully delivered the first gold medal for Indonesia at the 2026 Asian Games,” the President said through his official Instagram account, @prabowo, on Trusday, (September 25, 2026).
In the post, Prabowo also conveyed his gratitude directly to the athletes for their struggle in winning the first gold medal for the Garuda Contingent. “Thank you, everyone. Thank you for your hard work. You have successfully won the first gold medal,” he said.
To date, Indonesia has collected one gold medal, four silver, and 16 bronze. The 2026 Asian Games competition will continue until October 4, 2026.
The President also gave encouragement to all Indonesian athletes to keep fighting throughout the competition. He appreciated the hard work of the athletes carrying Indonesia’s name at the international sporting event.
“Thank you for your struggle and hard work. Keep fighting! Bring honor to Indonesia,” he said proudly.
Previously, on September 9, President Prabowo bid farewell to the Indonesian Contingent heading to the 2026 Asian Games. On that occasion, Prabowo emphasized the importance of the athletes’ struggle in carrying the nation’s name and maintaining its honor.
Prabowo advised the athletes to give their best and demonstrate that Indonesian youth are resilient, spirited, and never give up. The 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games is also a stage for Indonesian athletes to showcase their achievements at the Asian level.
