Jakarta (The Indonesian News) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has emphasized that the government will continue to strive to improve the welfare of TNI members and their families, from ensuring the fulfillment of education services to adequate healthcare.
Nevertheless, Prabowo emphasized that improving soldiers’ welfare must still go hand in hand with the principle that the TNI is the people’s army. Therefore, there must not be too wide a gap between the lives of soldiers and the conditions of the community.
This was conveyed by Prabowo while delivering his address at the 81st TNI Anniversary ceremony at the Prima Field of TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta, on Monday (October 5).
“The government will continue to pay attention to the welfare of soldiers. The education of soldiers’ children, healthcare services, and the lives of soldiers’ families but once again I emphasize that the TNI is the people’s army. The standard of living of the TNI must not be too far from the standard of living of all our people,” he said.
Prabowo also expressed his appreciation to the families of soldiers who help support the service of TNI members. He assessed that the duty of a soldier is a great sacrifice that is also felt by the family.
“Therefore, once again, I convey my appreciation and thanks to the wives of soldiers, to husbands who have wives serving in the TNI,” Prabowo said.
On that occasion, Prabowo reminded the soldiers that the duties they bear concern the interests of the nation and state. According to him, the honor, sovereignty, independence, and welfare of the people are responsibilities that rest on the shoulders of TNI soldiers.
“On your shoulders lies a burden that is not light. The honor of the Indonesian nation, the sovereignty of the Indonesian nation, the independence of the Indonesian nation, and the welfare of our people rest on your shoulders,” he said.
Prabowo also asked the TNI to continue safeguarding Indonesia’s territory and people from Sabang to Merauke, including the outermost regions. Soldiers were asked to protect the nation’s wealth so that it can be utilized for the benefit of all Indonesian people.
He then advised all TNI soldiers to continue carrying out their service with honor and courage and to maintain closeness with the people.
“Good luck in your duties, TNI soldiers; continue to serve with honor, continue to guard Indonesia with courage, continue to always be with the people, with all your heart,” Prabowo concluded.
