A Love Letter to the President Prabowo Subianto from a Student on the Outermost Island

Nort Nias (The Indonesian News) – A heartwarming story emerges from a simple classroom at SD Negeri 077279 Siofabanua in North Nias Regency, North Sumatra. A nine-year-old girl named Nasya Losefa Zega, a third-grade student, expressed her happiness over the provision of complete educational facilities and the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program from the government for students living on the outermost island.

This story began when the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti conducted a working visit to North Nias on Thursday (June 19). Dressed neatly in her school uniform, Nasya stood before the Minister, clutching a handwritten letter titled simply yet meaningfully: “A Love Letter for Mr. President.”

The letter serves as a portrait of how various government programs are now being directly felt by children in the outermost, frontier, and underdeveloped (3T) regions. With full confidence, Nasya handed the letter to the Minister to be forwarded to President Prabowo Subianto.

“Did you write this yourself?” Abdul Mu’ti asked upon receiving the letter, as quoted on Sunday (June 21).

“Yes, I wrote it myself, Sir,” Nasya replied.

The answer drew a smile and appreciation from the Minister. He praised Nasya’s courage and ability to express her thoughts and feelings through handwriting.

“Very good. I will deliver this letter directly to President Prabowo Subianto,” Mu’ti said.

In her letter, Nasya wrote that her school has now undergone changes that make learning activities more enjoyable, thanks to school renovations and the presence of interactive flat panels (IFP) or digital interactive boards.

“Thank you, Mr. President. Our school has now been renovated, and we are learning using Digital Interactive Boards. I am very happy to be able to study together with my friends,” Nasya wrote in her letter.

However, Nasya’s letter did not only contain words of gratitude. She also wrote: “I apologize if this is an inconvenience to you,” adding a humble note.

Nasya and her friends’ happiness was further complete with the arrival of the MBG program. Nasya recounted that every day she waits for the arrival of the food delivery vehicle bringing nutritious meals to their school. This program has had a positive impact, allowing Nasya to save her pocket money to buy school supplies.

“Every day we enjoy delicious food. The pocket money I used to spend on lunch I can now save to buy school supplies,” Nasya wrote in her letter.

Before ending her letter, Nasya made a simple promise to continue studying diligently, respecting her teachers, and loving her friends. She also holds a noble dream of becoming a teacher so that she can one day teach children in her village.

This small letter from North Nias serves as a reminder that the success of educational development is not only measured by buildings or technology but also by the growth of happiness, hope, and new dreams in the hearts of Indonesian children in remote areas.
