New Delhi (The Indonesian News) – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has affirmed Indonesia’s commitment to becoming a resilient and independent nation one capable of determining its own direction and interests without being dictated to by any power.
This was conveyed by Prabowo while attending the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, on Saturday (September 12). Prabowo emphasized that national resilience is the main foundation for a country to maintain its independence and determine its future.
“We do not want to be dictated to by any one or two powers. We must be resilient. And thereby, we become truly independent,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo explained that a nation’s strength must be built from within. Resilience is not only related to a country’s position at the global level but also to its ability to meet the people’s needs, guarantee energy, provide education, and open opportunities for the community to achieve prosperity.
“Strength always begins at home, from our people, from our ability to feed our people, guarantee the energy they need, educate our children, and give them the opportunity to achieve prosperity,” he emphasized.
Prabowo assessed that this capability is an important part of building a resilient and truly independent nation.
At BRICS, Prabowo also sees cooperation among Global South countries as one of the forces that can strengthen shared resilience. According to him, by standing together, developing countries can have a stronger voice in fighting for their interests and determining their own future.
Prabowo also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in areas directly related to national resilience, including food and energy.
Furthermore, Prabowo assessed that the collective strength of BRICS can be utilized to strengthen food and energy resilience while creating greater opportunities for developing countries.
“By standing together, we also become stronger,” Prabowo said.
Concluding his statement, Prabowo emphasized that this strength must be directed toward building a fairer and more equal international order, while continuing to strengthen the multilateral system.
“Together, we can make our strength truly meaningful,” Prabowo said.
