Prabowo Leads Pancasila Day Ceremony, Calls for National Self-Reliance

Jakarta (The Indonesian News) – President Prabowo Subianto personally led the commemoration ceremony for Pancasila Day at the Pancasila Building on Monday (June 1, 2026). Serving as the ceremony inspector, Prabowo issued a call for national self-reliance.

The Pancasila Day ceremony began with Prabowo ascending the ceremonial podium. He walked alongside Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and the country’s fifth president, Megawati Soekarnoputri, who also serves as Chair of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP).

The ceremonial procession opened with a national salute and a rifle salute, accompanied by the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, “Indonesia Raya.” This was followed by a grand salute and a rifle salute commanded by the ceremony officer, Infantry Colonel Didin Nasruddin Darsono.

“Reporting, the 2026 Pancasila Day commemoration ceremony is ready to begin,” Didin announced.

“Proceed,” Prabowo replied.

The ceremony then continued with a solemn moment of silence, the soft, somber music adding to the reverent atmosphere as attendees honored the memory of Indonesia’s national heroes.

“Fellow citizens, let us bow our heads to honor the services and spirits of our predecessors, our heroes. Moment of silence, begin,” Prabowo intoned.

The ceremony proceeded with the reading of the Pancasila text by People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani.

“Pancasila: One, belief in the one and only God. Two, just and civilized humanity. Three, the unity of Indonesia. Four, democracy guided by the inner wisdom of deliberations among representatives. Five, social justice for all the people of Indonesia,” Muzani declared, concluding with a rifle salute.

Attendees were then invited to be seated. The ceremony continued with the reading of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia by Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (DPD).

In his address as ceremony inspector, Prabowo reflected that Pancasila was not born from a vacuum. Rather, he said, it emerged from Indonesia’s historical, cultural experience and national aspirations.

“That is why this year’s commemoration theme Pancasila as a unifier of the nation and a foundation for world peace carries profound meaning in a world increasingly fragmented by conflict, geopolitical rivalries, trade wars, and economic uncertainty. Indonesia has a firm anchor, and that anchor is Pancasila,” Prabowo added.

Prabowo further affirmed that the key to true independence lies in the nation’s ability to stand on its own strength. Indonesia, he argued, must continue to strengthen its self-reliance and improve the welfare of its people so as not to depend on other nations.

In difficult times, he said, no other nation will care more about Indonesia’s fate than the Indonesian people themselves. Therefore, all elements of the nation must unite and work hard to achieve prosperity as the main foundation for safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and future.
