Prabowo: To Defend the People, We Must Maintain Good Relations with All Countries

Lampung (The Indonesian News) – President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed that Indonesia will continue to maintain good relations with all countries as part of its efforts to defend and fight for the interests of the people.

According to the President, Indonesia’s foreign policy must be based on the principles of friendship, cooperation, and a free and active stance amid global geopolitical dynamics.

“To defend the interests of the people, we must indeed maintain good relations with all governments,” Prabowo said in his remarks at the opening of the HIPMI National Conference in Lampung on Wednesday (June 10, 2026).

He emphasized that Indonesia does not wish to be hostile toward any nation and will continue to prioritize a constructive approach in international relations. For this reason, Indonesia adheres to the principle of being a “good neighbor” to other countries.

Prabowo stressed that as head of state, his primary duty is to safeguard and protect the interests of the Indonesian people. Therefore, every policy, including in the field of foreign affairs, must be oriented toward the national interest.

As President of Indonesia, I was elected by the people to protect the Indonesian people,” he asserted.

On that occasion, Prabowo also affirmed that Indonesia will continue to maintain friendships with all global powers without taking sides or becoming involved in rivalries or specific military alliances. According to him, this stance is in line with Indonesia’s long-standing foreign policy tradition.

“That is why as soon as I received the mandate as president, I immediately reaffirmed that our foreign policy would continue this path,” he said.

Prabowo added that Indonesia will continue to uphold the principle of a free and active foreign policy, which has been the foundation of national diplomacy. This principle is manifested through a non-aligned and non-block stance, while still actively contributing to maintaining world peace and stability.

“A non-aligned policy. A non-block policy. A free and active policy,” Prabowo concluded.
