Jakarta (The Indonesian News) – State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has revealed President Prabowo Subianto’s rationale for appointing Nanik S. Deyang as the head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
According to Prasetyo, Deyang is regarded as having a high level of discipline in executing management and oversight within the BGN.
Furthermore, Prasetyo added, the President also believes Deyang possesses a strong ability to ensure that all work processes at the BGN run according to standard operating procedures (SOPs), including maintaining the quality of food provided to beneficiaries.
“Discipline in carrying out SOPs, discipline in managing the National Nutrition Agency, discipline also in maintaining the quality of the food we serve to all beneficiaries,” Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday (June 4, 2026).
He said Deyang is known to be firm in conducting evaluations and monitoring of programs within the BGN. That firmness is considered essential for strengthening the governance of an agency that now holds a strategic role in the national nutrition fulfillment program.
“In evaluation and monitoring, she (Deyang) is quite if I may say very strict, very firm,” he stated.
Prasetyo added that Deyang’s experience as deputy head of the BGN over the past several months also served as a strong reason behind her appointment. The President is confident Deyang has already understood the agency’s working mechanisms and the challenges it faces.
“She has, for some time now for several months been entrusted with the role of deputy head of the National Nutrition Agency. Therefore, we believe she has had sufficient time to understand all the processes and activities underway at the National Nutrition Agency,” he said.
With her experience and leadership character, the government hopes that Deyang, together with the new deputy heads, can promptly carry out internal improvements and strengthen the quality of BGN program implementation.
“We will ask her, assisted by the two new deputies, to make improvements and corrections as soon as possible,” he said.
On the same occasion, Prasetyo confirmed that Nanik S. Deyang, alon with two deputy heads of the National Nutrition Agency Agustina Arumsari and Major General Trenggono will be officially sworn in soon.
“Regarding the swearing-in, we have scheduled it for next week, because we all think they should focus first on making improvements in the early days,” Prasetyo concluded.
